This story has been updated.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jeffrey Mann was arrested Saturday evening after he was allegedly found masturbating in Piedmont Park.

Sheriff Mann confirmed on Sunday that he was arrested in the city of Atlanta on Saturday evening.

The Sheriff’s Office says the charges are indecency and obstruction.

“He is working with City of Atlanta to clear these charges,” the Sheriff’s Office said via email, without elaborating further.

According to the report, an Atlanta Police Officer was patrolling Piedmont Park on foot on Saturday evening in an “area known for sexual acts after dark.”

“I witnessed the male feeling on his penis from the outside of his pants. He then started to walk towards me at some point,” the officer wrote. “The male completely exposed his penis and was masturbating (stroking) with his right hand while walking in my direction.”

The officer stood next to a tree to hide the reflective tape on the officer’s bicycle uniform. The officer turned a flashlight on the suspect, alleged to be Sheriff Mann, who then fled on foot, according to the report. The sheriff allegedly fled across 10th street and into traffic. He kept going until he reached Argonne, the report says, turning left onto the street and continuing to run. Mann allegedly stopped to tie his shoes.

The officer approached and Mann allegedly started running again. Mann allegedly surrendered near 341 Ninth Street. According to the report, Mann allegedly asked to speak to the officer’s supervisor. Mann allegedly had two condoms in his right pocket.
