This story has been updated.

It appears that plans for Big Boss Chinese in Decatur have been cancelled.

The project has been in the works since 2013, but recently the owner, Guy Wong, told Tomorrow’s News Today that the project has been scrapped. To read the full story, click here.

The location for the project, 312 Church Street, will become the newest storefront for a popsicle company based out of Birmingham. Steel City Pops lists the address on its website as the future home of its first Georgia shop. The company has numerous locations in Alabama and Texas, as well as stores in Kentucky. Decaturish left a message with the company seeking comment.

According to the  company’s website, Steel City Pops sells paletas, the Mexican version of a popsicle. The company’s founder, Jim Watkins, discovered them on a family vacation to Nashville.

People disappointed that Big Boss Chinese isn’t happening will be happy to know that the people behind Taiyo Ramen in Downtown Decatur and Suzy Siu’s Baos in Krog Street Market have announced plans to open a new Chinese restaurant in Oakhurst.

Double Dragon will open this spring in Oakhurst Village. It will be located in the former Saba space at 350 Mead Rd. The restaurant will be owed by Michael Lo and George Yu. On Monday, the owners announced the restaurant will open in two weeks.
