The city of Decatur is looking for a company to lead a community-wide master planning process for the United Methodist Children’s Home campus.

Decatur completed the purchase of the UMCH campus in August, paying $40 million for the property. A master planning process for the property is set to begin in 2018. The planning process will last about seven months Planning Director Angela Threadgill said.

“The City is seeking the services of a firm, partnership, joint venture or team to provide consulting services for the preparation of a Master Plan for the United Methodist Children’s Home (“UMCH”) Property,” the request for proposal from the city says. “Services shall include detailed assessment of the property’s current site conditions, building uses and development patterns, transportation patterns, and similar design elements; determination of appropriate land uses and policies for future use which are consistent with the City’s 2010 Strategic Plan and Decatur 360 Comprehensive Development Plan; review of existing plans and ordinances; meetings with stakeholders, innovative public engagement, plan development, and preparation of deliverables.”

Proposals are due by 3 p.m. on Oct. 27.
